Know what you’re choosing

Liability generally covers harm you cause to others, not your own car.

Arizona generally requires 25/50/15 liability limits for vehicles driven on public roads. Meeting the minimum is one consideration; understanding the gap is another.

  • What liability is forCovered injuries and property damage you cause to other people, up to policy limits.
  • What liability alone generally does not payYour own injuries or damage to your own vehicle; policy terms apply.
  • What an agent can help reviewWhether minimum liability fits your vehicle, finances, lender requirements, and risk tolerance.

When liability-only may fit

Tends to fit: an older, paid-off vehicle whose owner is prepared to handle repairs or replacement without an insurance payout.

Usually doesn’t fit: a financed or leased vehicle; lenders typically require physical-damage coverage beyond liability.

Separate note: if you use your vehicle for rideshare or deliveries, ask an agent to check that use and the coverage you need before driving.

These are general patterns, not advice about your policy. Ask an agent to review your situation.

Coverage restart

What a new policy can and cannot fix

Can new coverage erase the lapse?

No. A new policy cannot make an earlier uncovered period disappear or guarantee that every MVD or license consequence is resolved.

When can I drive again?

Only after coverage is issued and its effective date is confirmed, plus any separate MVD, registration, license, or court requirement that applies.

Will every carrier offer an option?

No. Availability, price, terms, and effective date depend on the carrier, driver, vehicle, history, and underwriting.
