Know what you’re choosing

Liability generally covers harm you cause to others, not your own car.

Arizona generally requires 25/50/15 liability limits for vehicles driven on public roads. Meeting the minimum is one consideration; understanding the gap is another.

  • What liability is forCovered injuries and property damage you cause to other people, up to policy limits.
  • What liability alone generally does not payYour own injuries or damage to your own vehicle; policy terms apply.
  • What an agent can help reviewWhether minimum liability fits your vehicle, finances, lender requirements, and risk tolerance.

When liability-only may fit

Tends to fit: an older, paid-off vehicle whose owner is prepared to handle repairs or replacement without an insurance payout.

Usually doesn’t fit: a financed or leased vehicle; lenders typically require physical-damage coverage beyond liability.

Separate note: if you use your vehicle for rideshare or deliveries, ask an agent to check that use and the coverage you need before driving.

These are general patterns, not advice about your policy. Ask an agent to review your situation.

Separate the moving parts

Plain SR-22 answers

Is an SR-22 a separate insurance policy?

No. It is proof filed by the insurer with Arizona MVD for a person who must show future financial responsibility. A qualifying policy and the filing work together.

Does buying insurance restore my license automatically?

No. Insurance and the filing may be only part of the requirement. MVD, court, fee, or other reinstatement steps may remain.

Can AALL promise the filing date?

No. Timing depends on the carrier, policy issuance, MVD processing, and the requirement shown on the notice.

Turn the notice into a list of next steps.

Start with three basics, then separate the policy, filing, deadline, and remaining work.
